Jude Craig was born in Bangor, Northern Ireland and has travelled widely.
She trained in Manchester, England majoring in printed textiles and now lives in the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria in Australia with her family.
Since moving to Australia, her chief interest lies in exploring the world of natural dyes. She works with a variety of natural dyes, including those plants foraged from her local environment like eucalyptus and wattles to master dyes like indigo and madder, creating magical moments on cloth.
Both reflect the same ethic, to tread lightly and care for our environment.
To find excitement in the serendipitous nature of eco-printing and couple with the control and precision required when working with master dyes.
Her studio is awash with deconstructed fabrics, earthy hues and monster vats. Her work ranges from large-scale highly textural forms to small specimen pieces.
'Work instinctively, Preserve traditions and Be responsible' is her mantra
Jude regularly runs workshops from her studio and teaches adults and children alike.
